Finally decided to do a blog post on the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation as I have been loving it for sometime now 😉
I do not do product reviews as a rule on my blog as I am not really a product junkie, I buy a product, use it, and If I like it will use it till the end… and then repurchase. The reason being my skin tends to be quite sensitive and breaks out easily which makes me stick to products I know don’t break me out. I have also recently started to look for products for sensitive skin and fragrance-free as my doctor told me to avoid products with heavy fragrances as they could aggravate the skin and cause skin problems.
Now with NARS Sheer Glow, I had been wanting to try it out for ages after reading many bloggers rave about it. For me the main problem was finding a good match to my skin..as here in Hong Kong that is like digging for gold!!!…(It may be there but so hard to find! 😉 ) I looked up online and saw that many bloggers and sites recommended Barcelona or Syracuse for my skin tone..i.e. Mac NC42 (as a match reference).
So the next time I passed by the NARS counter at Langham Place in Mong kok, decided to go ahead and look at the foundation. I was torn between Barcelona and Syracuse as Barcelona seemed a tad bit lighter and Syracuse a tad bit darker.. now my skin tone is quite uneven on my face so getting an exact match is close to impossible. I decided to go with Syracuse and I must say I am happy with my decision. I will insert a picture of me wearing this foundation in the day time and you will see it looks quite good in pictures. (the reason being its SPF free)
Some of the important points about this foundation are
It does not contain SPF which is great for flash photography, but you would have to put SPF separately if going out in the sun for long periods of time.
It has a Satin matte finish and is not sheer or oily looking.
It is extremely natural looking on the skin which is great for a daily wear foundation.
The coverage is Medium to full coverage.
Feels very light on the skin unlike the Mac Pro long wear (which I love also, but now that I have been using this feel this is ideal for the day time when you dont want anything too heavy)
It is a Liquid foundation which comes in a bottle but does not include the pump, I bought the pump separately (hmmpfff)
It says it’s suitable for normal and dry skin types
Fragrance free which is great as that is what I look for in make-up products due to my sensitive skin.
It comes 20 shades, mostly yellow-toned
Overall, I love this foundation! 😉 I really don’t have any bad things to say about it. The lasting power is also great .. l am not sure how long I could say this foundation lasts without wearing off.. I have worn it for a whole day and the areas it tends to wear out for me is my nose and forehead as those are my oily areas and all foundations tend to do that. But setting it with a translucent powder should help it stay put longer 😉
The weather here is Hong Kong is hot and humid at the moment and even thought I do not travel for long periods in the sun.. I have used it in the day time and it has served me well!.. I must say though it could wear off faster if used during the day and out in the sun a lot.
Another point I would like to mention is if you have dry to very dry skin, it would be a good idea to moisturise well before applying this foundation so it does not stick to any dry areas on your face. I do apply a moisturiser before applying any foundation as after 40, skin definitely needs all the help it can get! 😉
So in conclusion I would say an extremely natural looking, light weight foundation. Ideal for medium to full coverage and great for photography!. Also, great as a daily use foundation.
I know this is not a full in dept review but hope it helps and you can decide if you would like to take the plunge and try it out 😉
Here’s looking forward to a great weekend!
