Hi Everyone,

Hope you had a relaxing weekend and today is an exciting day as it was the Oscars.. so  lets talk about the Oscars and makeup 😉

I was lucky to watch it live this morning here in Hong kong. I enjoyed the dresses, the drama and even the hostess Ellen Degenres was great I thought.  I especially loved Pinks performance.

The gowns were fantastic and Oh to be able to wear them and look so good is but a dream ;-))

My makeup inspiration for today is the beautiful Kerry Washington. I loved her makeup look and her dress for the Oscars. Being heavily pregnant she was able to pull off looking absolutely gorgeous!!.. hmmm…she probably had tons of people helping her along. But still she looked lovely.

I looked up on the web for pics of her look immediately and found more than that.. her makeup artist actually giving a detailed account of how she achieved the look!!.. Fab!..so I went hunting through my collection to get out stuff that looked similar to what she used on Kerry. Now as you will see her look is very minimalistic and that is great as when you are as impatient as I am it works great! I have no patience to do ‘layers’ of makeup!!..

This is the picture of the lovely lady..

Now I really wish I had special lighting that gives you that wonderful golden glow all over but I have to make do with my Canon camera and using whatever light is most flattering 😉

Okies, so I dug out a blouse that matched Kerry’s gown,  as much as I could. Her makeup artist wanted to make a bold statement with the lips and leave everything else to a minimal.

So I primed my face with moisturiser and lips with lip balm and she had a handy hint to leave the moisturiser on for at least 20 mins before adding on the lipstick. So you can put the lip balm and then do your other makeup.

I added my concealer and foundation and then did not bother with bronzer but added a blush which is Benefits Coralista. It is a beautiful soft coral shade with a lovely shine..so it gives you a lovely glow. filled in my brows using a brown eyeshadow from NYX.

I then went on to the eyes..which I primed using Macs paint pot in Painterly. It is an excellent base to help any eyeshadow adhere to your lids 😉 I then set it for a few seconds before putting on a light purply/mauve eyeshadow from my NYX palette in The runway collection. Any soft light plum/purply colour will do. You put this all over your eyelid.

I added some black liner to the lashes and blended it out to soften the look. Finally as Kerry’s makeup artist did, added tons of mascara to the eyelashes.

Then onto the lips. I lined my lips with a lipliner from Gosh called Auburn Twist. Then filled them in with Rimmels lipstick in Kate no. 112. And added a dash of gloss on top.
